The new power blocs of the world
September 11th defined a new world order.
What we might call
"The Axis of Good"
is taking on "The Axis of Evil".
"The Axis of Weasels" is trying to obstruct them,
but the good news is
they are highly unlikely to try to
obstruct them militarily
(as rival powers would have done in, say, the 19th century).
The Axis of Weasels
will engage in shameful
diplomatic support, banking support, trade, loans,
intelligence sharing
and weapons sales to the Axis of Evil.
But we should still count our blessings that they are
not an all-out enemy
(and probably never will be).

The Axis of Weasels in Western Europe
(France, Germany,
Belgium, and others)
is finished.
The West may not agree on the wisdom of the Iraq war,
but in the West everyone wants to fight Islamism.
And no one (in the West) wants to totally alienate America.
No one (in the West) wants to be allied with Russia
rather than America.
-
Dominique Moisi,
French political scientist:
"The one country in the world that is carrying a universal message remains America.
There are other powers in our multi-polar world: China is important, Russia cannot be neglected. But neither of these countries carries a universal message. Only America does. China wants to be big and is going to be big, but it has rather selfish aims.
What makes a difference is that no one in the world dreams of becoming Chinese or becoming Russian. But millions of people in the world, even some Europeans, still dream of becoming American."
